Our mission is to provide an outlet where local farmers, producers, and artisans can unite to educate and serve our community while offering healthy choices and unique creations to consumers.
Our market offers farm fresh produce, plants, flowers, prepared food & grocery staples, fresh fish, meat, eggs, & dairy, artisan trade products, and farm crafts.

We accept SNAP/ Food Stamps. Vendors accept cash, card, and Venmo.

Attending Farmers Markets Supports the Economy and the Environment.
The most basic argument for why local food is better for the environment is that it travels a shorter distance to get to you, so it produces fewer greenhouse emissions from truck exhaust or jet fuel. If you look beyond just location, you can see even more positives compared to commercial agriculture. Plastic waste? Forget about it! Food grown locally comes straight off the vine or out of the field to the market. Knowing the food is fresh means more flavor, less preservatives or pesticides, and a healthier you!
Shopping at the market builds community! You may bump into your neighbors while picking out potatoes or searching for snacks. Many of our market participants vend to local restaurants. Farmer's markets naturally foster diversity, encouraging people of all races, financial class, age, and lifestyle to come together in search of locally grown food and artisan crafts. We encourage everyone to stop in and visit us downtown, whether you are a Hammond regular or passing through!
Nutrition Incentive Programs
The Hammond Farmers and Artisans Market proudly offers three nutrition assistance programs to expand healthy food access for Tangipahoa families with food produced and grown locally by small, family-owned farms.

The market is an official USDA SNAP authorized retailer. SNAP (also known as Food Stamps, EBT, and Louisiana Purchase) can only be used on SNAP eligible items including: fresh produce, fish, poultry, meat, breads, cereals, non-alcoholic beverages, dairy products, and seeds and plants that produce food.

For every snap dollar you spend, we'll match, dollar for dollar, in any amount through our funding partner Greaux the Good! Starting April 6th, our SNAP Match increased from $50 to Unlimited!

Before becoming a part of the Hammond Farmers & Artisans Market, all those interested must fill out an application. Not all products qualify for sale at the Hammond Farmers & Artisans Market. Be sure to read the full guidelines before applying.

Applications can be mailed or brought to the DDD office (2 West Thomas St) along with all required documentation and the $20 non-refundable application fee. Please read this paperwork in its entirety before applying.

All HFAM vendors are required by law to collect state and local sales tax (unless exempt, see guidelines). If you are applying for the Farmers Market, please do not apply for a Tangipahoa Parish tax identification number until you have been approved to vend by the Hammond Farmers Market manager.

The market is located in historic Downtown Hammond, Louisiana in Railroad Park 8AM to Noon every Saturday, rain or shine. Free parking is available within easy walking or strolling distance of the market. We encourage you to bring reusable shopping bags before you head out your vehicle. Consider bringing a collapsible cart if you plan on stocking up for the week. Our market has a great selection so you might find you can’t carry all your finds in bags!
There are restrooms, seating, shade, a water fountain, and bike racks available in Railroad Park.

Yes, well-behaved, leashed dogs are allowed at the market. Owners with dogs causing a disturbance may be asked to leave the market. Other pets are allowed too, just make sure you are taking care of your animal!
